XRANGE is the region’s only state-of-the-art, multi-domain training, testing and evaluation range.

XRANGE brings sophisticated, flexible, multi-domain training, testing and evaluation (TT&E) capabilities to the heart of the Middle East, Africa, and Central and South Asia region. Commercial and military customers can conduct complex, air, ground and maritime trials in a safe, secure and instrumented environment.

Conventional munitions, such as bombs and rockets, and electronic warfare lasers and signal jamming can be tested with cutting-edge, high-precision, video and data acquisition systems. These are aided by multiple asset surveillance and tracking technologies, and advanced hemispheric tracking radars. For electronic warfare, passive RF monitoring creates a known RF environment to facilitate the scientific testing of these systems.

RANGE is located on a highly secure, uninhabited island approximately 8km off the Abu Dhabi coastline and a 100km drive from Abu Dhabi city. The island is 35km by 15km, enabling a land danger area of 355km2, inclusive of a 3.8-km-long, 60-metre-wide runway. 

The air danger area is permanently closed to 8,000ft and can be extended to 40,000ft. A 50km2 sea danger area enables shallow- and deep-water testing, training and rehearsal. 

Operational year round and ideal for hot weather trials due to its arid, humid and dusty environment, the fully functional runway and on-island customs clearance mean customers can fly directly into and out of XRANGE, simplifying logistics.
